Here’s some important travel information which can help you plan your trip and figure out the simplest way for you to get to Cozumel.


Cozumel’s International Airport is located just 10 min approximately from the heart of downtown and 20 min approximately to the hotel zones.

Cozumel has daily direct flights from many major US cities including Miami, Houston, Dallas, Atlanta, and Denver. Below is a list of the airlines that fly direct to and from Cozumel with there local number and a link to there website.

Cozumel Airport Transportation

Inside the Cozumel airport you’ll find taxi shuttle booths offering transportation to any destination on the island for a reasonable price. You can also reserve a private or shared taxi now by emailing us here and your taxi will be waiting for you at the airport. Another option is to rent a car at the airport which can easily be done online at most major car rental companies. If you do rent a car, all you need to do is get a printed local guide of the island to find your way around. Driving in Cozumel is very easy.


For many people traveling to the Cancun airport is much easier since there are many more direct flight options with a more flexible time schedule. The Cancun international airport offers direct flights from most Latin American, North American, and European cities around the world. Once you land in the Cancun airport you will be inside a newly built and modern facility that welcomes thousands of tourists per day.


There are three options to travel to Cozumel from the Cancun airport, depending on your time schedule and budget each option is simple and easy to access from inside the Cancun airport.

Option 1: Take a short 20 minute flight with FlyCozumel (GFNY recommended) or Mayaair from the Cancun airport.

Option 2: Reserve a private shuttle transportation

Option 3: Take a bus from the airport. This is the most economical option.

The last two options would leave you at the Playa Del Carmen pier to Cozumel where you would then need to take a 20 minute ferry ride to get to Cozumel.


Flying from Cancun to Cozumel is a short 20 minute flight with flights offered daily by FlyCozumel or Mayair Airlines. Flights start at 7am till 7pm from both Cancun and Cozumel. Once you pass through customs you will have the option to purchase a taxi shuttle to the Playa Del Carmen ferry pier. You can also reserve the transportation now by pressing the booking button below and a special shuttle operator will be waiting for you with a sign with your name to escort you to your private shuttle. Prices vary depending on amount of people and bicycles but it’s much better than waiting till you get to Cancun.

The total trip to the ferry pier is about 40 minutes. The trip goes through the maun highway which connects Cancun to Playa Del Carmen and is a newly built federal highway. Along the way you will see some of the Riviera Maya’s newest hotels and attractions.

There are modern buses from ADO which is Mexico’s largest bus operator that can take you from Cancun to Playa Del Carmen, where you can then take the short ferry ride to Cozumel. Fare is about $10usd per person. The ride takes about 45 minutes to 1 hour dependig on rush hour. In Playa Del Carmen the ferry pier is located 2 blocks away from the ADO bus terminal.

Once you arrive to Playa Del Carmen getting to Cozumel is just 30 minutes away. The ferry departs as early as 6:00am from Cozumel coming and going hourly as late as 10:00pm from Playa Del Carmen.

You may buy your tickets right before you depart or you they can be purchased in advance at this website. Space on the boats is ample so you don’t have to worry about availability. In most boats you can also sit outside and enjoy the Caribbean scenery. There will be no problems for you to bring your bike case on the boat and if your bike is already assembled they will just ask you to secure it in the rear section of the boat. The approximate cost for a round-trip Playa Del Carmen – Cozumel – Playa Del Carmen is about $20USD per person.
